The Labor Policy and Practice Working Group has a central focus on improved working conditions for women, equal pay and decent work, as well as issues for women in the informal sector. The group’s main goal is to expand women’s participation in the economy through labor policies and practices that ensure equal opportunity, decent working conditions and access to resources.
The Working Group believes that the Coalition should argue the case that improving women’s status in the G20’s economies would have a positive impact on the G20’s usual central goals. Thus, the group’s Breakthrough Year Goal is to secure a place on the G20’s 2011 meeting agenda for women’s empowerment as a smart economic strategy leading to smart economic growth.
